Expedition to Africa - December 2007
The big news of the month is that Darius Turner Photography will be traveling to Uganda in December, where there are sure to be some fantastic opportunities to photograph the African wildlife and landscape. I will be traveling to Uganda with the Hands of Help charity, and we will be building classrooms for underprivileged children as well as conducting health audits and providing information to locals about preventable diseases such as HIV/AIDS and malaria. For me, this was a perfect chance to pursue my passion for travel photography and help a good cause at the same time. The classrooms we are building will be paid for by our fundraising efforts between now and December. Darius Turner Photography is aiming at raising $5000 to put towards the project. Environment in Focus Photography Walks
The Environment in Focus photography competition run by Willoughby City Council is approaching. As a lead up event to the contest the council ran two photography walks on the 30th June at Harold Reid Reserve, Middle Cove. I was invited to lead the walks and had a great time teaching landscape photography tips to a group of photography enthusiasts. The theme of the walks was 'immersed in nature' and the walks covered the basics of photography as well as how to shoot in a landscape environment. We are looking at holding similar events in the near future so if you have an interest in photography, would like to learn how take better photos or for some more advanced tips then please reply to this email with your name and contact number and we will be in touch.
Upcoming Exhibition
I will be exhibiting a selection of my works in the Changeable Art Space at North Sydney Community Centre, commencing on Saturday 14th July. Markets - Where You Can See Us
The Darius Turner Photography stall has become a regular feature of the Chatswood Melody Markets. You can come and visit us every Thursday between 11 am and 9 pm in Chatswood Mall, next to Chatswood Westfield. This is a great chance to see the images from Gallery 99 enlarged, framed and printed. So if you are in the area on a Thursday please come by and say "G'day!". Also, we will be at the Homebush Boulevard Markets near Telstra Stadium on Sunday 31st July from 9am until 2pm.
