How to take amazing landscape, wildlife and adventure photographs

" Photographing the Susa Tribe Mountain Gorillas in Rwanda was the most exhilarating photographic experience I have ever had. Before we could see the gorillas we had to trek for about two hours through thick jungle to an altitude of nearly 2000 metres, wearing full length sleeves to avoid being scratched by the very prickly native plants.

As we climbed higher up the mountain, our guides armed with semi-automatic rifles to protect the animals from poachers, called out to the gorillas in short grunts and groans to let them know we were approaching. This was as the jungle was beginning to clear, and we walked into a more open area, lined with lush green bamboo plants." About the Author

Darius Turner is a landscape photographer based in Sydney, Australia. His images have been captured on adventures across the world and reflect his passion for finding new places and sharing new experiences. Darius has a particular fondness for the ocean and enjoys photographing seascapes both at home in Sydney and in his travels to beautiful destinations like Samoa, Zanzibar, Fiji and Tahiti.

With a great love of the outdoors and wildlife, Darius sees photography as a way to get close to nature. He believes that the beauty of the environment should be shared and uses his photography to tell the story of each place he visits. He has spent periods of time in Uganda helping to refurbish a school and has cycled 800kms across Thailand to raise money and awareness for orphans of the Tsunami. He sees these experiences are a way of connecting more closely to the locations which he photographs.

Darius enjoys teaching beginner photographers both in groups and one on one and has experience formally teaching in a classroom setting. With a bachelor degree in Media and Communications from the University of New South Wales and studying a Masters of Commerce degree at the University of Sydney, Darius hopes to use his studies to bring his knowledge of photography to as many people as possible.
